Man arrested at Manchester Airport after what police found on phone

The 32-year-old will appear in court next year.

A man was arrested at Manchester Airport and later charged with conspiring to supply heroin, cocaine, amphetamine oil and 2CP. Kane Molyneux, 32, of Westmorland Drive, Liverpool city centre was detained at the airport on Monday, December 23 in connection with information found as part of Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of Encrochat encrypted mobile devices.

He was later charged with conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs (heroin, cocaine, 2CP, amphetamine oil) and remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 24. Molyneux was further remanded to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday January 21 2025.


To date in Merseyside, police have arrested 236 people and sentenced 172 as a result of information from the encrypted devices.
