Flight cancellations have risen slightly year-on-year, new data reveals.

Figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that 1.01 per cent of flights from Manchester Airport were cancelled between January and November 2025, up from 0.90 per cent during the same period in 2024.
Despite the increase, the cancellation rate remains below the UK average of 1.09 per cent for major airports.
Anton Radchenko, CEO of AirAdvisor, said: "While cancellations increased slightly at Manchester Airport in 2025, travellers should be reassured that the airport’s overall cancellation rate is lower than the UK average.
"When you combine this with the improving picture as far as cancellations are concerned, nationally, it’s fair to suggest that 2026 should be a year where air passengers face even less disruption at the Ringway hub."
Elsewhere in the North West, Liverpool Airport reported a cancellation rate of 0.84 per cent.
The CAA counts a cancellation as "the non-operation of a previously planned flight, announced less than 24 hours before or after its scheduled departure time."
